Default Tricky tire sizes needed??? Please help

Ok Ill try to keep my question easy. I have a 2000 C5 and I just purchased a set of Chrome C6 wheels 18x8.5 front and 19x10 rears. NOW,, The stock C6 tires are like 245s front and 285/35/19 rear. and I saw a sneak preview of the new Z06 model that will have 325s in the rear with 19x12" wheels! I want to run the widest tires possible for a nice stance and traction at the strip. My questions is,,, What are the widest tires i can run on 18 and 19" C6 wheels on my 2000 C5. I know the front has to increase with the rear for handling. and profiles will change as the tire sizes increase. But i dont want to spend big $$$ on tires and have them not fit either. IN the future im sure this combination will be well explored but for now Im relying on info from knowledgable persons...
I hope i didnt confuse everyone here....
thanks,,,

Take a look at Tire rack, discount tire or one of these tire size calc's
http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
You will be able to find what size tires will fit what size rims with these sites. These will be recommended sizes, some forum members have used oversized tires with success, that decision will be up to you in the end.

With those wheel widths (the limiting factor), your ideal setup would be 255/40/18 fronts, and 295/35/19 rears.

Unfortunately, I don't think you'll find any single model tire made in both sizes....Michelin seems to have dropped the 295/35/19 size from their PS lineup.

The reality of such little offerings in the 295+ 19" size makes me suggest you simply stick to the C6 size tires in this case.
If your wheels were just 1" wider, it would be a different story.

Here's one option:
You could run the Continental tire in 255/35/18 and 295/30/19 sizes.

This is about as good as you'll do for slightly wider, yet still fitting the wheels properly. The tires will be a little shorter all-around, but the height ratio will be good.

I have the chrome C6 motorsports and I got BFG's from Tire rack in matching fronts and rears. Great price I think it was the cheapest around and especially compared to the other models. Here's what I got F= 275/35/18 BFG KDW2, R= 295/35/19 BFG KDW2 ($980 for all four). Look great, don't know how they perform yet. The car has been on a whirl wind tour of mods. I pick up tomorrow after 5 weeks of being gone and going from place to place.
