What are the chances of this thing going out on a 33k mile car? When clutch is engaged i get an awful bearing noise, if i disengage the cutch it goes away, would this be it?
Do you mean as in stepping down on the pedal as engaged and letting the pedal out as disengaged? Cause its actually engaged all the time until you step on the pedal and disengage it. Depends.. there are other bearings that support your drive shaft in the torque tube aswell. If the noise is there only when the clutch pedal is applied, Id say it might be your throw out brg.If the noise is there all the time, like in neautral and goes away when pedal applied id say its somthing else. Did that make any sense?
Could it possibly be the "marbles in a can" syndrone that you are hearing? Following are some past threads on this. You may find even more using the Forum search feature.
There's info in the C5 General Sticky too...link in sig. It's also explained in the owner's video, which you can download here: http://www.zo6vette.com/media.php
It's still in the sticky. Totally normal. Push the clutch in, and the noise goes away. That's normal. I bet it really sounds like crap if you don't have the clutch pushed in when you turn off the motor....again, normal. More incentive to work out your legs so you can always be comfortable keeping the clutch engaged right?? No offense, I need the workout too.
