Perhaps he was working with what I have (ie the runflats) an since he said the Headers kick in at higher RPMs than the gears I'll get better traction.
I thought he said the slippage is a result of the trans slipping and I wouldn't have this problem with the headers.
I know I may have to rethink my tires...but in the meantime...............
What I was hearing from him, was there's a trade off....gears/tc max off the line but wrong tires can cause traction issues....headers kicks in a little later so traction issue is lessened and pick up power gain at 3500 rpm+.
I have riden in c5's with headers, and and an exhaust and an intake, I have riden in my c-5 which has an air intake an exhaust , 3:73's and a mild 2800 TC and a dyno tune and i can honestly tell you, my car FEELS tons faster.
look at it this way, if you add headers you will knock maybe 2/10's off your 1/4 time, if you do a TC and gears you will knock OVER 5/10 off your 1/4 time.
Now which mod has made your car FEEL more powerful?
Yes, thats a big difference and posting and and viewing posts it seemed that Gears TC was the way to go until the header recommendation.
Again, perhaps my tires (runflats) and traction is why the opinions differ. Perhaps the tech guy agrees with you but told me (and I missed it) If I want traction, I have to give up power off the line and thus go with the headers vs the gears. If thats true, I guess I have to rethink the tires.
I dyno sae corrected 338 rwhp and have 3:73's and a mild TC (2800) and traction is NOT a major issue, with my EMT's, unless I apply the brake at the launch, I get a chirp and a puff of smoke (very little) and ZOOOOOOOM I am off. Keep in mind that is only if I PUNCH it, if you are talking street use, and use your head, you'll be fine with EMT's.
