I think when I was pounding on the broken piece of my output shaft to get it out of my half shaft, the CV joint seperated or something. I put the half shaft end onto the output shaft but when I tried connecting the A-arm to its perch it would not reach. Whats wrong is the inner CV joint is extended or popped apart (i dont know) and I need a BLOW UP DIAGRAM or something so I know how the joint fits together because I know once the boot comes off its impossible to get it back on. So I need a visual to go by when I'm trying to put it back together. Or if someone can tell me if it is even possible that the joint could have came apart without being irreperably broken I can get my order in at gmpartsdirect.com
I am DYING to drive my vette again (its been almost 6 months), and the new diff has 4.10's...everything was going so smoothly...argghh Anyone with an idea please chime in
Email me at edbon@adelphia.net and I'll send you the step-by-step procedure that shows that inner joint and how to disassemble it and replace the seal. It will tell you what you need to know.
My boot had a tear, took whole shaft to CV joint specalist, $25.00, assembled it with his boot and I took GM back for return of $45! Why bother learning and trying to fix yourself, eh? Chuck
I had 4:10s installed but this prob didn't surface until I blew out coupler and replaced Torque Tube and shaft.

12 years later....is that procedure still available?
