I bought a kit from Ken (Fitchner Chevrolet). They need your vin cause u need ur key to turn it on/off. Make sure either u can do it or u have a shop that will install it. Most places won't touch the install due to liability.
Actually they need your vin to make sure you get the right one/seatbelt color/model year variances. Any key will work to turn it on off. But, no biggie. The install is fairly straight foward. I put one on my 98, and it took about an hour. Seatbelt, wiring, and mounting. Not really all that painful. There are a few write ups floating around. You can do it no problem. Plus, its so much fun to give the little ones a ride
I put one in last fall. the instuctions that came with mine from the chevy dealer did not include 97-04 vettes. Every other car in the GM line up but not mine. If you get yours and have any trouble putting it in PM me and I will walk you through it. You can not put it in wrong as all the air bag connections are a special shape so you can not make a mistake. The hardest part was getting the glove box out, and actually finding the airbag wire. It is behind the stereo so the center console has to come out too. I could have done it in about a hour had the directions been right. If you need any help don't forget to PM me.
The Install page was listed above, but like I said, like me, you could be one of the lucky people who have the harness on the left side. There is no way to screw it up, the connector's to each airbag are different sizes.
I have a kit - bought it for my 97 and never installed it. I think I payed $180 Canadian- it has instructions for install. Dealers won't touch this project because of liability. If your interested I'll let it go for $50 + shipping.
