I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times but I couldn't find anything using the search...
Can I reuse the stock gaskets? I'm planning on installing a fairly new set of Z06 exhaust on my 2000 MN6 after work & my local Dealer doesn't have the gaskets in stock - & of course I'm to inpatient to wait. Also is it necessary to apply a high temp sealent on the gasket? If so what kind/brand... Thanks!
You are fortunate in that the Z system seldom leaks, unlike some aftermarket, hence, you may get by. Try it, if the gaskets look good. It is easy to swap out later if one leaks.
I've reused mine a couple times. You can use some high temp RTV Silicone sealant on them if you want. I use the Permatex Ultra Black about $4 a tube. I put a lil on mine last time. No leaks...
Just be careful when you remove them. You can use something like a razor blade to help if they stick...
