So last time at the track the best 60FT i pulled was a 2.18. Im running the Nitto 315-35-17's. I tried launching at 3k and fried the tires. Then i tried 2k and it boged. Slipping the clutch led to the clutch smlling bad. I was running at 20PSI. Should i just lower the tire presure down? Any info would help.
Nitto drag radials are not bad tires. However, they do reguire a very smokey burnout.
Anyway, you have found the problem with launching! You can't just dump the clutch. The tires will spin and you go nowhere. Too little throttle and not enough clutch slipping and the car bogs.
Ranger is one of the best at launching. His tutorial is a "sticky" on this and the other forum. Then practice, practice, practice.
I would run them at 16 psi but that's not your problem. It seems your not heating the tires up enough. Nittos need alot of heat to work otherwise your just running on street tires as is evident in your 60 and description. With your hp, you should be able to come out at 4500 with a clutch slip on those tires and see 1.7x's consistently and afew 1.6x's thrown in.
important to heat the tires.... find out from nitto what the lowest you can run...... I use bfg drag radials on my other car @ 12psi.... wich is the lowest reccomended... but I put 8 in just for the hell of it to see what would happen... I've got good video of dr's w/wrinkle walls, lol... still holding on the rim!!!...... so try 12psi heat them good and do a moderate launch to see if they grab... then practice, practice, practice.....
