Default Is Fast Lsx 90 Worth It?

I have a 383 stroker and am currently changing my head/cam combo. I'm going with ET Performance 5.3 heads and an Ed Curtis cam to match the flow rate of the heads. My question is; Is the FAST LSX 90 intake with the Nick Williams Throttle Body worth the money for what you gain in return or should I stay with the stock LS6 intake and TB? Any info is appreciated!
Thanks,
KJ

It's my understanding, via an article of an engine buildup by Speed Hound Tuners featured in Vette Magazine, that the FAST intake is only effective if you go to a 90mm throttle body or larger. Hope that helps.

Yes...especially on a larger CID motor more with higher air requirements.

Do a search...Ive posted on this topic many times, as have others.

(And its still "effective" even without the 90, but personally I would step up and do the 90 as well).

Can you still use the stock MAF,bridge and air inlet to the 90mm TB?

I heard it is not worth the money, except when running NOS with the backfire wall things to keep it together. I heard that it doesn't flow any better than the LS6. Could be wrong, but I did hear this more than once. good luck

I would be surprised if you didn't gain a good thirty rwhp with the 90 mm intake and TB.

Not true, it's the new L2 intake that doesn't flow any better than the LS6.... the FAST 90 is worth 20 or more hp.

Questionable wether you really need at 90 TB and LSx Intake on a 383.

They're usually become noteworthy on 400+ ci motors.

There have been several threads in the C6 tech section about the LS2 intake and it appears to be a POS. LPE has posted about the benefits of the LSX intake in regards to the LS2 and it sounds like it is the way to go. They did mention the LS2 throttle body bolts right up to the LSX, so it may be a cheaper alternative to the other 90mm TBs out there.

The more radical or the larger the motor becomes, the more a FAST 90 intake and TB will help. On a stock cubic inch or slightly modded engine, the intake and TB are not a restriction but as the cubes grow the intake and TB become a restriction. My car is a 346 A4 H/C car and I picked up 18 HP and 18 TQ by going from a LS6 intake and stock TB to a FAST 90 and NW TB. If 20-25 HP is worth $1400 to you, then I say go for it.

Ken - this would be the perfect time to lower the CR and add turbos.

No, it's one of those corvette type quirks. It's gotta be naturally aspirated!

I have not dynoed yet due to my slow learning of Flashscan but can tell I am pulling lots more air (redlined SVO30s) and the FAST90/LS2TB combo idles great> feels tons stronger.

Get the FAST and have it ported to boot. It worked great for my 346 A4 and it will surely help your 383. See my sig.
