Default Ghosts in my Alarm

I have a 2000 Coupe

I was under the impression that I did not have a passive alarm, (meaning it won't arm itself)
Am I wrong??

Up until about 3 weeks ago I could get out of the car and not lock the doors and then proceed to open the doors 5 or 10 minutes later with no hassle.

Lately if I leave the car for a few minutes (like 2) the alarm sets. The doors don't lock, but the lights flash.

When I open the door the alarm goes off.

Any ideas? Is it me?

Thanks as usual......

I have a 2004 Z06, and mine has done the same thing a few times. I will get out of the car and not lock it, and the next time I open the door the alarm goes off. I can always turn the alarm off by putting the key in the ignition or pressing the unlock button on the remote, but it is still embarrassing.
I am trying to pay more attention to the sequence of events that may cause it to get confused and arm itself.
I think sometimes that I open the door before I pull the key and the security light stays on steady, instead of flashing to remind me to arm the alarm. The steady light means the alarm is armed.
Lately, I have been making sure that I pull the key before I open the door and check the dash when I open the door to make sure the "security" light is flashing. So far, it has not armed itself again.

my 99 coupe does it, use too. Check the body module fuses under neath the dash. That was my problem, maybe different on yours but it might help you out.

Thanks I will give that a try tomorrow. I know exactly what you mean about embarassing.

I'll be fascinated if that's the problem. It would mean that I've changed what I normally do without noticing it.

I mean even washing the car I noticed the lights flash the way they do when I set the alarm and I had the keys sitting on my workbench.

Very spooky

I'll check the fuses too...

Ive heard from a couple of guys that you need to open up the remote and clean the passive switch . Mine was acting up and I just turned it off and no more problems .

Well now I have 2 more questions.

1. Is the alarm in my 2000 coupe passive?

2. If it is, how do I find the passive switch???

It would be a small slide switch under the buttons on the fob .
