Default Second gear grinding on quick shift

My 2002 just started grinding when quickly shifting into second. It's OK if I granny shift. Anyone know anything about this? Is there a TSB? I'm just out of warrantee by 1,500 miles-wouldn't you know.

Synchro-mesh.

Repair or shift more slowly.

I don't know that an aftermarket shifter will stop grinding while shifting.

It sounds like the synchros.

I'm taking my car in for a very similar problem with 3rd gear.

Agreed. I recommend taking it in ASAP. I lost 2nd gear synchros on my '01 and 2nd gear eventually went with it. At that point they did a rebuild under warranty. I'd rather have just had to replace the synchros.

I had the dreaded "clutch sticks to floor" problem. The entire clutch system was replaced under warrantee 6 months ago. Any way to connect the syncronizers to that problem?

Bye bye, synchros! Too many power shifts, eh?

I'd still take it to the dealer. Sure, they may so no the first time, but would you ever take the first no? Be friendly, understanding but insistent. Tell them you thought this was going to be a problem but it didn't manifest itself until just now. It's ONLY 1,500 out of warranty, after all!

Yeah, lots of power shifts-why drive a vette if your not going to enjoy it?
Good advise. I'll give it a try.

No doubt about it. You could also have gear damage from the grinding. They'll know when they get in there.

If you're stuck with the bill I would check on a beefed up after market unit.

Just got back from the chevy dealer. The service writer says I'm still in warrantee (less than 36 mos.) I don't understand but I'm not going to argue.
