Hi everyone this is my first post on the board. I recently got a 1997 C5 and it runs great. I freakin love it. I went from a 98 trans am to this.
MY questions is that the other day i was going to pass someone out- i floored it and a couple seconds later i hit a bump while flooring it and it jarred the whole car.
Does anyone think that this one action could destroy the rear-end or what concerns should i have after doing this? thanks

I'm not sure i damaged anything but the pedal was to the floor and i hit a really big bump while doing that. I mean have you ever did that or what.
I am just wondering if this could damage any of the driveline components

Get someone more familiar with the C5, hopefully a local forum or car club member, to take a look underneath for you. If the car is tracking straight and riding normally and there are no obvious visible signs of broken parts, bent rims or fluid leaks, then you probably lucked out.
But if you suspect you damaged something, have it checked soon so you don't find out at 75mph with a semi on your rump.

You could have hit something, but when I got my C5 new and floored it the first time,, I thought I hit something also,, Then I just remembered that the traction control kicked in at the same time the power came on. Wonder how long the tires were spinning before the electronics cut power.
Sounds like the traction control kicked in cause I've done that several times in 28k miles and I've never had a problem with it. Don't be so paranoid with these cars. They can take a lot more abuse than you think.
I believe you've probably totally destroyed your rear-end!!! To help you out, I've got a 1994 Ford Taurus in mint condition, and I'll trade you straight up on that WORTHLESS Corvette of yours!!! PM me if you want to talk business!!!

Doug, are you ashore again? I thought you were gone for awhile.
Man, quit being a " 'fraidy cat"! I've jumped railroad tracks, bumps at over 100mph , and done countless other abusive acts to my '99vert. They are built for it. GET ON IT!
