Default Reset computer or wait after mods???

I have a 2000 coupe and just installed my first few mods. they included the Halltech TRIC CAI intake system with a large K+N filter, Straight Silicone MAF ends, Breathless performance power Duct, and TB coolant bypass mod. Just to update I also installed Some cool AC Iridium plugs, MSD 8.5 plugwires and GHL bullet Cat-back exhaust. Should I reset the computer by unplugging it or just drive the car. IF so how many miles to relearn? I was also curious if i should drive normal or how I plan on driving the car. I also just got a Diablo Preadator unit to mess with and make things better or worse

Just drive it. I think 50 miles of normal driving will be sufficiant for the relearn.

I think the Diablo is a waste of money. I would find a good tuner.

The Diablo isn't a "waste of money" at all, it does a good job for what it is.

Considering a Davinci fan controller is a couple of hundred bucks the Predator is a bargain especially when you get one used for about $275. Ask me how I know.

I disconnect my battery all the time and the radio has never been locked out. But, I have heard that there is a security setting that can make that happen.

as to your original inquiry: no need to disconnect the battery just because you add a few bolt-ons. wont serve any purpose because the car is ALWAYS in adaptive strategy when driving closed loop. Therefore, the PCM will re-average the trim registers if/when they stray from 0 due to a modification, change in driving conditions, etc.

Radio getting locked after disconnecting the battery? In 4 years of professionally building and tuning C5s, this has never happened to me.

Diablo Predator: definitely not a good bang for buck PCM tuning tool. For a few $$ more you could have had your own copy of HP Tuners that has an integral Scanner, amongst other things. A very powerful tuning tool providing unlimited access to about 500 tables within the PCM. Predator cant touch this. However, since you already have it, and you are a beginner, it will prove just fine for cutting your teeth on familiarizing yourself with PCM tuning. Eventually, if you really take to tuning your car and modding it, you will quickly find out the inconvenience and shortcomings of the Predator and end up being one of those that is selling his for $275!! Then you will be buying something more adequate like HPT or Edit.

Let me re-phrase. For the money he'll get much more if he finds a good tuner in his area.

rwj383, great web site. Correct me if I'm wrong. There are over 3,000 lines of code. Unless you eat and breathe this stuff the average guy will never be able to achieve the full potential that his car is capable of.

Also a tune isn't something you have to do every day or for every mod. I'm talking about the average Joe.
