Default Headlight binding

My right headlight on my 02 coupe seems to be sticking momentarily when fully open. When I turn off the lights, instead of lowering smoothly, it sticks for a moment and then jerks free and closes. Any ideas?

Sounds a lot like your headlight gear is on its last leg. Chevrolet installed a hard nylon (plastic) gear in our pop-up headlight motors. They don't have a lot of longevity, especially if you use Twilight Sentinel.

If you're under warranty... take it in.

If not...

You can either pay $200-ish for a new motor assembly

or Shop around for a new gear.

He sells replacement brass gears and many here on the forum have used his service. Don't freak out when you see the Fiero logo everywhere. He specializes in Fiero parts but since the headlights are similar for F, Y and P bodies he makes kits for all three.

I have one myself

Also make sure that the motor/actuator assembly is tight... have read that if it loosens up, even the brass gears can strip.
