Default Temp Sensor AC dual zone info

I had a bad outside temp sensor and thought I would post the information in case someone else needed it.

I have a 2000 coupe with dual zone AC. The outside temp was reading -42 or so on hot days. Sometimes it was fine but over time it got so it only read negetive numbers. It was fun to watch, it would start at 5 degrees and slowly go down to -40 some.

It was caused by something (I am guessing water) getting into the sensor and connector. If you are facing the front of the car it is located on the left side (not driver side) down at the very bottom of the radiator shroud.

If your display is reading 69 (strange they chose that number) it seems to mean there is no reading at all from the sensor (at least thats what happened when I ran without it).

If your sensor is reading very low numbers and you cant use your air you could remove the sensor so it defaults to 69. According to the manual if you set the temp at 60 it blows maximum cool anyway despite the outside temp.

If you replace the sensor I agree with others here to replace the connector, its not a big job. My sensor was bad but you could tell the connector was the reason. The parts are as follows:

10248414 Sensor list price 10.58
12102747 Connector list price 26.65 (comes with crimp connectors)

NOTE: Once you replace the sensor dont just start the car and expect a correct reading, DRIVE the car a bit (read the manual for reason).

Its so nice to air back (I live in Phoenix)
