I just bought a 2004 Auto vette with a 273 rear end. I want to pump it up a little not a lot. I have read about headers, air system, cams, modgle, deablo compmuer, tork converters and etc. I dont know much about all this can any one give me some pointers of what would be best. Thanks for your time.
I'd start with gears. 3.42 gears will change the way you car performs. It just feels better. I had 2.73 gears and had to drive around in 3rd except on the highway. Since the gear change OD is great everywhere. Hasn't seemed to hurt my gas milage either. I would also change to a 160 degree thermostat. You will need to reprogram the computer for the new thermostat (fans) and the gear. But you will love the dirvability difference.
I 2nd the gears, but disagree about the t-stat, but that's just me. Unless you're road racing or in a very hot climate I personally don't like the idea of running significantly cooler. I can see in Las Vegas in 100+ (lived there 8 years) but in Tn I doubt you'll need it. Just my honest opinion.
A torque converter and gears will significantly change the acceleration performance...then see how much more you want/need.
Well, most people change the air filter first. Do a search to find out which one appeals to you. There are a few different kinds.
Most change the exhaust system next...then headers, I would say, followed by rearend gears, and then a torque convertor.
You definitely want to lose the 2:73 gearing you currently have. That's not something you want to keep, IMO.
