Default Engine install from the top ?

I am installing my motor from the top ( I didn't remove the
motor) and I have a dumb question. Do I need to install the bell housing to the block first, then attach to the torque tube....or install
the bellhousing to the torque tube first, then drop in the motor?

Where is the best place to bolt the hoist chain? The heads are on the
motor, so I was thinking to use the valley cover bolts on the rear.

Thanks!

I just did this last week. I attached the bell housing to the torque tube when I did mine. I took the inspection cover off while I did this as it is easy to put back on once the engine is attached. Plus it helps by being able to look and see if the shaft and engine are lined up. It can be a pain sliding the engine on to the input shaft, just be patient if you don't get lucky and have it slide on right away. Everything has to be perfectly lined up. The worst part is the last inch as you have to guide the little end of the input shaft into the bearing on the back of the crank. I just about went nuts doing that part on mine. Just take your time and you will get it. Once I had it connected I took the metal cover off which covers the torque tube. I then lowered the engine and torque tube together (as they should be attached now) about and inch so I reach some of the harder to get to bolts. As for where to hook up the hoist, I used my engine mount bolts( the ones that go from the bracket to the block) and screwed them into the holes on the heads. I would not use the valley cover bolts, because if they are the ones I am thinking of I would think that they would be to weak to support the whole engine. Good luck. PM me if you have any other questions
