Ah crap. Are you kiddin me, car doesn't even have 500 miles on it! Ok, should I wait to get the recall notice then do the CLB or just do it now? If I do it now then what about the recall notice I am bound to get?
I didn't think the Column lock had anything to do with the "Remove Key Wait 10 seconds" message. The column lock message is different. the remove key message has nothing to do with the column lock.

Sorry...but you are wrong.
"Remove key, wait 10 seconds" is the EXACT message you get when your column lock starts f***ing up. Unfortunately, I've been there.
The "Pull key wait 10 seconds" message does not always mean a defective column lock.
I've been there too.
The "pull key" message may be associated with a dirty, wet, or defective key.
The "service column lock" message is usually associated with a defective column lock.
Therefore, I would try another key and see what happens before jumping to a defective column lock conclusion.

I agree. The message does not necessarily mean that you have a defective column lock. It can indeed be related to other things.
My main point to my other post was in response to this:

This person was stating that that message had NOTHING to do with column lock. That is inaccurate. It is indeed related to column lock as well as other possibilities.
I have no proof but I think GM displays the "Pull Key and Wait 10 Seconds" message whenever the BCM software gets confusing status from one of the other modules.....ECL being one and Theft Deterrent circuits for another. I think this may be GM's way to say "try it again, I'm confused". I did a search in my Service Manuals and could not find any place listing all the reasons for this error message. If anyone knows, it would be a great help to all of us on the forum.
In any case, when you get that message and then it clears up, it doesn't necessarily mean anything in my opinion except that there was a glitch or spurious timing event that caused the BCM to get confused. This is probably normal for cars like ours that have multiple computers all communicating with each other over serial data links. This is why the C5 seems to be so sensitive to a low battery voltage, corroded ground connections, etc. Thanks.

On my third battery in the last 6 weeks and after every one the pull key/ten seconds message comes up. This message can be related to both the column lock and a couple other issues.
Ok, here is an update, did what the car said and it hasn't happened since. From what I see here this could be related to a number of things so I'll just wait and see.
