I just had the shop replace the gaskets that came with the headers with what they said where stock f-body gaskets and now it is worse! Now my leak never goes away. With the old gaskets when the car got warm the leaks up front went away. The guys in the shop showed me the old gaskets and all eight cylinders were leaking. What do I do now????? This S U C K S!! How much do you think another shop will charge just to do it right? I am so ready to bust their name here on the forum but I refrain. The shop told me drive it a while so the metal will heat-up and seal better. Is this even a normal thing? My friend, a c3 mechanic, said I told you not to get aftermarket headers because they will always leak. I hope he is wrong because my stock exhaust system is gone. Lou tell me what to do.
Well I think I know why the redo did not work. When they replaced the gaskets they did not unbolt the bottom bolts by the collectors so there was no flex in the system. Now when they put the new gaskets in then bolted them up you could not get a flush mount to the heads so they now leak even worse. I found this out by calling the reval shop and I am going to have them redo it for me. Does this sound right??

Yes, the flanges on headers will twist. Tighten the flanges then hook up the bottom. I had the same problem until I enlarged the bracket holes so that I could bolt up the bracket last.
