Convertible top lid tonneau release does not work electrically
Hi, I have a 98 Vette convertible. Hope someone can help. When I press the button to release the top lid the windows go down and the lid does not pop open. When, I give the latch motor direct power, it works, so the motor is not bad. My car is an automatic and I dont believe the E-brake has to be up (tried it). Anyone have any ideas of what can be wrong. Thanks
Sam

I have a '00 and went out to see what happens. When the trunk is open and I hit the cover release switch, the cover does not release and the windows do not go down. I also get some chimes.
The release switch actually connects to the body control module which in turn release the cover (through a relay) and rolls down the windows. It sounds like your problem is either in the BCM or in the wiring between the BCM and the relay or in the power to the release relay.
For my '00, I located the schematic. There is a fuse in the folding top cover (tonneau) circuit. It is labelled in the schematic as "TONN REL MiniFuse 17 10A" This appears to be located in the Instrument Electrical Center which is, I believe, under the passenger footwell. The fuse is at the center-left, of the panel. Don't forget, all this info is for an '00 and may not apply to your car.
