I recently have been experiencing problems with my door remote. At first the thing just stopped working. I replaced the battery and it worked fine for the first day. Now it works intermittently and the doors unlock on their own. I have made sure that the remote is not set to passive. Is this a common problem? Is there a common cure?
Not all that common harry. I have to admit that there have been more than average issues with remotes lately though. Do you have a second remote for the car, and does it work properly? You may simply be suffering from a broken fob. You could try to go through the relearn procedure with the DIC and the fob that is acting up. It may have just lost it's way. Otherwise I'd say time to find a replacement.
alright, sorry I gotta do a small hi-jack here..I may also be having problems..but I don't think it's my FOB's..I think it's the receiver on the car. about half the time I try to lock the passenger side door using one of the remote's it does not lock, but the alarm does arm..looking at the lock itself on the door I can see it "flinch" but not engage and I can open the door. This never happens if I lock the door using the drivers side button on the door..only using the FOB's..
i've been having similar trouble. I was advised about the ground connection on the battery. If it get corroded it throws some stuff off, this being one of the symptoms. Since its a new battery, check for crystals around the ground and get it exchanged. May solve the problem.
BTW, if you're exchanging batteries, everyone here seems to agree on the Optima red cap battery being worth its weight in gold.
My battery is out of warranty so I'll be buying one next payday.
Occaisionally my remote will not unlock the driver door. There is a sound coming from the door when this happens, but not as loud as when the door actually unlocks. If I exercise the lock using the fob, eventually ther lock starts working again. Thought I would throw this out in case your problem wa similar to mine.
