Stereo Upgrade questions
Delco head unit remains in Vechicle.
CD changing capability, MP3 CD can be used
XM Radio installed (hopefully the XM Commander)
System Wired in no use of FM modulation quality sucks, require quaility sound.
STATUS:
Bose system installed, Kenwood 12 disc changer is having a very difficult time reading cds. Delco deck always displays ERR after Kenwood changer reads cds.
ASSUMPTIONS:
Delco head unit AUX port is an pair of RCA/composite in plugs? Have not looked at rear of Delco unit an I correct in the following?
Kenwood unit audio out ports are RCA?
Kenwood unit control cable from the Delco, are they industry standard can one replace the kenwood with only kenwood, or other industry market manufacturers products? If one can change a kenwood for another kenwood do all the new products that support fm modulation still have the control cable ports?
QUESTIONS & PLAN:
Delco unit only has one AUX in port?
Kenwood changer control cable will work if I replace the CD changer with another Kenwood unit? Specificly the following.

XM Commander plugs straight into standard RCA ports. My plan is to plug both the CD changer, and XFM into the same port and keep only one unit on at a time. I do not know when you power down the XM Commander via the power button if the Xm Direct reciever unit stops sending an audio signal. Furthermore how does the XM Commander head unit control the XM Reciver unit, control cable, or FM radio?
Are their additional options availble that I should be considering?
I can't tell if you have already bought the adapter to put RCA inputs into the Delco, but if you haven't the Delco has no RCA inputs w/o either wiring them yourself or buying the adapter.
It will only give you 1 set.
If you run both the XM and the Changer into the same RCA inputs, even if one is off while you listen to the other you are still going to get a loss of quality because the off unit is acting as a load while the other is playing. You are better off putting an RCA selector switch in to select input A or B.
You should also be able to find a Kenwood controller that will control Satelite and a changer. The Kenwood radios use the same line to control Sirius and CD Changer. Unless of course you have to have XM specifically.
IMHO you are going through a lot of extra work and spending extra money to keep the factory deck. You are going to have to wire an interface to the audio, mount and wire two controls units. You can get a nice Kenwood deck for $200 easily, and add Sirius to it for less than $100, and not need the controller for the Kenwood changer either. Just my $0.02
BTW, if you do decide to go the Kenwood Sirius route I have a radio and antenna I am pulling from my C5 that I would sell at a good price.
