I have a '99 and plan on purchasing a intake manifold from a LS6. Some questions...
1. Has anyone done this mod?
2. Will this be a "bolt on" or will additional parts be required?
3. Will the car have to be retuned after this mod?
4. Are all the LS6 manifolds the same?
Thanks for the help!
Phil
Many have done this mod and, as a sisde note, all 2001 - 2004 LS1 and LS6 intakes are the same. There are plumbing changes to be made when adding a later intake on a pre-2001 car. I don't believe any tuning changes need to be made.

If you plan to keep your cars engine internally stock. Don't rexpect to gain much added HP from an LS6 intake.

1. Yes, lots of us have.
2. Well, yes, it's a bolt-on mod, but you will have to get a new coolant line and two plugs. These are usually sold as kits by most that sell the LS6 intake manifold. The reason you need this is that the coolant line runs beneath your LS1 intake manifold, but because the LS6 intake manifold is flat-bottomed, this isn't possible and the line has to be rerouted.
3. Have to be tuned? No. Should it be tuned? Yes, if you want to get the full benefit of the mod which, as already stated, won't be much anyway unless you have future plans for your motor when this change will really start to make a difference.
4. Yes, except for minor changes from the very first ones made, they are all the same.
Here's a good "do-it-yourself" write-up for the intake manifold swap.
You definitely don't need a retune after adding an LS6 intake manifold. My stock tune was fine with a Blackwing, Dynatech long-tubes, and LS6 intake manifold. FWIW
You'll gain horsepower and torque with the swap, just not a hell of a lot of either with a stock cam and heads.
Thanks. I've been slowly adding Z06 exhaust parts, and now the intake, but leaving the MAF, TB, and internals stock. Just wanted to make the engine more effecient and still pass smog in CA. Don't need a butt load more HP, pretty happy with the way it feels now.
While most people change the coolant vent tubes to the later style, it is not necessary if you clearance the bottom of the LS6 intake by grinding down the webing where it contacts the tubes
