Well, to start off I would like to let you know I know almost nothing about corvettes. This past Friday my dad went to visit his good friend in Dallas and he has a new 2005 vette and is selling his 2000.. The car has no problems at all, and is immaculate. The only concern I have is it has 98K miles, but they are all highway miles. He is willing to sell it to me for 16k. I saw it in person 2 years ago, and he emailed me pics yesterday. It is in great shape and the front seat doesn't even show any wear what so ever. I would like to hear from some educated people that have owned corvettes for a while, about what kind of problems this car could incur within the next 15k to 20k miles. I would of course take it to a dealer before I buy it and get it looked over. Again, it was a single owner he is 55 years old and has all the records, synthetic oil every 5k miles, automatic transmission. Please let me know if I should pick it up..
Thanks

WOW, a 2000 for 16K!!! Great price! Yes, the mileage is high, but you can't beat the price. Obviously there are new tires, brakes, etc. It sounds like it has been well cared for. I'd see if he has all the service records. Easy highway miles & good service: these engines will go forever!
You are on the right track to get a pre-purchase inspection. I'm not so sure that a dealer will be your best bet. There are several reputable Corvette specialty sellers in Dallas. I've worked with Corvette's of San Antonio with great results. They have a facility in Dallas (Corvette's of Dallas). They are car guys and will give you a fair appraisal without the sales pitch you will get from a dealer.
Good luck on your purchase! If you end up with it, posting pictures here is mandatory!
thanks for the input, btw, have you heard of anyone driving a vette with that many miles on it.. I am considering driving it for a year then selling it, any other input would help tremendously.
I've got a 1998 with 104K. The engine still purrs like it was brand new. I still get 18 or 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg or so on the highway. At that price, I wouldn't be afraid to purchase it with that many miles.

I am over 55 and many friends in our vet club also over 55.. If it has been maintained as you say,, I would expect another 100K miles.
Things you might have to do.. plugs,, brakes,, tires.. coolant, belts..
I would not be afraid of them,, easy routine stuff and might already have been done. Just ask current owner. Probably a great car. 99 Nassau Blue
