have been running the 17" et street(non radial), but they seem to have lost their bite or something last time out to track, heated them up but they never got sticky and would not hook hardly. i know the new radial is a better compund, but am concerned about the lack of flex thus creating more parts n=breakage. i have both hardened axles, etc on a 6 speed 422 iron block car, have been coming out kind of soft around 4 grand. best prior was 1.69 60', what are some of your opinions. thanks, joe
I will add something ............FWIW
My 345/30/18s BFG drs with 2/32 tread would give 1.52 -1.55 all day long with only a 5-8 second burn out at 18-19psi hot.
Now 2,000 miles later and NO TREAD..........I must do a 10-15 second with 14-16 psi hot...and now I get a tad of wheel hop to get 1.56-1.59 60's........you are on target as the tread compound is layered and as the "tread" wears off you are into a less sticky tire I think
Time for me to get new drs.......wheel hop = Bad..........and I have an A4
