Default DTE rear end brace

How hard is it to put on. Does the tranny need to be dropped or does the crossmember to get it on..

No, you don't have to drop tranny crossmember like instructions say. But it can be a test of skills/tools, however doable.

If you have the space & tools, I would highly suggest dropping the rear cradle. At least partially, so you can work. It will test your patience as well as your ability. Expect some busted knuckles. I would also chase the threads on all hardware before you install. All but 2 of mine were tight, and had to be wrenched all the way down. You'll soon find out there is not much room to turn a ratchet ot wrench. It looked as if some powdercoating oversprayed into the threads.

I put mine on while I had the crossmeber dropped because I was changing out the diff, but the more and more I think about it, it may be quicker to drop the crossmember and put it on than trying to do it with it in the car because of the tight spaces. You may want to get your alignment checked afterwards.

To answer your question, yes, it can be done without dropping the tranny and the diff but it may prove quicker to actually do so.

Loosening the crossmember bolts as in the instructions, will give you and extra inch or so. I did it start to finish in three hours. Of course there was 4 beers, 1 episode of HP TV, and countless times of does that look right
