I just turned 30k on my 2k Coupe. I have some vibrating coming from the front left that I believe is a warped rotor. SO --> I've decided to replace the rotors and pads.
I like to drive the car, but I dont like the stock brakes, too dusty and I swear they stink when I get out of the car after a good drive. The absolute worst thing about the stock brakes is that with the thin spoke wheels, the huge rusty rotor stands out too much.
Who do you suggest to send to for new rotors and pads? I'd like to keep the dust down so ceramics? I'd like a good looking rotor, drilled or slotted or both? Should I go with a cover for the caliper or just paint it?
I've done a rotors and pads on a couple previous cars, is there anything special about doing them on the C5? I have a bag full of pucks in my hockey bag already - so its a start
Ceramics for less dusting...you will lose some braking.
Rotors, get whatever style you like the looks of, but know that drilled rotors can crack if used roughly. Make sure you get zinc plated rotors so that they don't rust.
If it's just the rusty hub that bothers you, get the $25 Napa rotors and paint the hub. I seriously doubt your rotors are warped. It's almost certainly pad deposit buildup, and that can happen to any (iron) rotor. I like pads that stink and make lots of dust, so I can't help you there. Caliper covers???? I never heard of that. I think it'd be best to paint them. There's lots and lots of threads about people painting their calipers, and there's nothing special....you could search for caliper painting threads, or maybe wait a couple hours and I bet there will be a new thread about it...again.
