Default The drama continues ....

I'm trying diagnose what's going on with my brand new LS6. The engine is mildly built forged unit with heads and cam. The dip stick blows out when the engine revs over 3500 rpm. The air-bridge and the throttle body are full of oil. The PCV system is brand and is correctly installed. And the radiator over flow tank looks like a freaking hot tub with the jets on full blast when the engine is running. Is that normal? I do not have over heating issuses and the oil is clean (not milky).

Help a brother out,

Dave

I am very surprised to hear the air bridge is full of oil. The intake I could understand due to the PCV system.

Are the PCV hoses all routed correctly?
How much oil was put in?
Who built your engine?
Did you do a leakdown test as suggested?

My 2 pennies worth say:
jacuzzi in overflow=pressurized air in coolant system=blown head gasket (asuming car not overheated and it is boiling)
dip stick acrobatics and oil all over intake=pressurized crankcase=massive blowby=broken rings or hole in piston or maybe the head gasket allowing pressure into oil passages also

The PVC system is correct. The oil level is fine. I'd rather not say. They are known to be the best at what they do. They are members here. The leak down test is tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the help.

I agree. The head gasket is leaking in multiple places blowing combustion gasses into both water and oil galleries. Because they are in different loacations, water is not getting into your oil.

Whatever it is (probably head gaskets)....it's not gonna fix itself

Sounds for all the world like a tear down. Good Luck....and I 'd get right on it before anything gets worse.

Update:

The compression test and the leak down test indicate that all is good on the bottom end.

1) The compression on all 8 cylinders was 127-130 psi. GOOD!

2) The leak down had all 8 cylinders at 5% - 8%. GOOD!

3) The car doesn't blow any smoke out of the exhaust. GOOD!

4) I still have oil in the air bridge and throttle body. WTF?

5) The radiator still looks like a jacuzzi tub? WTF?

Any ideas,

Dave

Could also be a crack in one of the heads or cylinder and you are only getting blowby when it gets hot...

Though I agree you may want to look closely at the head gaskets Maybe some hoses arn't hooked up correctly as .....something caused the problum
