Default Extra plug near horns, what is it for?

I have a 2000 C5 hardtop and I was working on it and found an unused plug near the horn harness. The horn plug is two wire green and black, this exta plug that I can't seem to determine where it goes has two wires green and gray.

I did have the nose repainted in 2003 after I got it back from being stolen. The body shop could have left something off.

Anyone know what this extra two wire plug could go to? I can't seem to find it in my wiring book.

Is this the plug that connects to the external temp sensor?

Default Good guess and probably correct...

I looked it up in my maintenance manuals and the pictures for the location looks correct. I just glanced at the wires for colors but my book states colored wire with stripes, but I could be mistaken.

My HVAC control head is just the standard one and not the dual control with any type of digital display for temperature reading. So with that said then maybe that plug is part of the harness that goes to the Outside Air Temperature sensor near the horns but my car doesn't have the sensor.

Am I correct that my control head isn't for the dual zone so I will not have the Outside Air Temperature sensor near the horns but the harness still contains the connector?

Do you have fog lights? If you don't it might be the plug for them. There would be one on both sides though. Just my two cents........

I'm pretty sure you're right, 'cause my C4 had an open green/black plug because I did not have the digital a/c.

Default plug

The plug you mention is for the external temp sensor. The dual climate control displays outside temps.

Default Thanks guys for the help

I don't have the digital temp display with the dual controls. So that plug must just be part of the harness and not used on my car.

I do have fog lights and those plugs are higher up and larger.

Thanks for the help. I think you guys determined what the plug is for.
