Default Serious problem with engine. Need your help!

Dear Friends!

I am afraid that I have very seriuos problem with engine. First of all I have to say how I got my Vette. I bought it after accident where intake manifold was broken little bit with small hole on it. I am afraid that some parts of manifold went to inside - just over valves. When I replaced manifold some parts were removed from inside.
Then I tried to start engine few times and it works. But one time when I tried to start engine was mechanically blocked. I tried to start again and saddenly it unblocked itselves and works correctly.
But the PROBLEM IS that I have coolant in oil (oil is like butter) and white smoke with smell of coolant goes out from exhaust from time to time. I do not know what the reason could be? And how start diagnosis and repairing? Should I start with removing heads? Or all engine? Is it possible that only head gasket is broken? Or maybe engine block is broken? My machanic said me that engine also knocks.
Maybe any suggestions from you?
Will be glad for your help.
Bartek

Head gaskets. Would be my guess, with what you described and not seeing the vehicle.

Take the heads off first and see what's up.

If you can find a bore scope use it to determine the damage, it goes in through the spark plug hole and is a lot less work then pulling the heads.
Unless I miss my guess you have either a cracked block or head, IBWB but I've also been there before.
