Hey guys. I have a fairly minor issue with my A/C. It blows appropiate temp air, but it mostly comes out the defrost and floor vents. I have the optional electronic climate control system on a 98 Coupe. I was told once that it was most likely just a leaky vaccum hose which causes it to default into this mode. How can I find out if this is the problem, and where the leaky hose is? Thanks.
On my 98, the battery leaked and ate the plastic line underneath that feeds vaccum to the trap doors. Go under the passenger side and pull the hose from the purple connector to see if there is vacuum. if not, unbolt the bottom of the right fender and see if the cehck vave has vacuum.

That is probably what happened. When I got the car, it had an aftermarket battery in it, and it has had this issue since I picked the car up too. I just didn't notice it for a while.
Yes, check for the broken vaccuum line. The other possibility is if your intake manifold was ever moved (ie for replacing oil pressure sensor), then the hard plastic vaccuum line may have become disconnected from the rubber fitting.

I've got a similar problem. Are there any links or pics of what to look for when correcting this problem? Thanks Zuti
