Default HELP!! Tranny still getting HOT!!

Okay not sure what to do. Its a 00 vert w/ 3.73 gears and a 3500 stall convertor. I got it out of storage and was running it around and the high tranny fluid temp goes on. I took it to the deale and they could not find anything wrong. They changed the fluid and filter and said it did not look bad or anything. I then installed a B&M tranny cooler, it seems to help but the reading came on again. Has anyone had this problem? Could my convertor be going bad? Any kind of help or advice would be great.

What are your temps and under what conditions?

You need to post more info. Tranny temp should be about the same as engine temp.

I had the same setup and ran into the same problem. My TC had dirt in it (bought it used BIG MISTAKE ). The dirt would not let the TC lock up and this caused the overheating. I installed a trans cooler but this did not help. After installing a new TC I still had the problem. The dirt had also cloged up the trans. cooler on my radiator.I by-passed the stock trans cooler and changed the trans. fliid. This fixed the problem. My trans. temps are now in the 140/150 * range under normal driving.Hope this helps.

The tranny temps are going well into the 250 range. I just changed the temp sending unit and the temp still went to 255 under some hard driving. Though the high temp warning did not come on. The fluid still looks good. Does it really matter which way the B&M tranny cooler is facing, the hose inlets on the bottom or on the top? I checked the cooler after the temps went to 255 and the bottom where the hoses are going in and out was fairly hot but the top was barely warm. Could I have a clog in the cooler? Again any help would be great.

I have a tranny cooler and normal and spirited driving will get it anywhere from 150-180.

I took it Willow Springs this weekend and got the tranny temp almost to 250. But this was driving mostly in 2nd gear at high RPM's. My oil temps almost hit 280!!!!....this was HARD driving for 30 minutes straight.
