Default Oil Consumption??

I heard that some LS1's had a oil consumption problem (Rings)? Will GM take care of it almost like a recall?

Sometimes. Really just depends on the dealer from what I've read. Luckily I'm at 164K miles and don't burn any oil...

if you have a warranty they will take care of it if you fall within their guidelines for consumption. If you don't have a warranty then you might as well buy some extra oil because it is an expensive fix.

also it is more prone to early production 01 cars with MN6s. My car was burning 1.2 quarts for ever 800 miles of driving. With the rering the car is much better, but still burns under hard driving.

Your dealer will most likely do everything they can to avoid tearing apart the motor.

I was going through a quart every thousand or so. I have a manual (M6) and drive the car pretty hard (isn't that the point of having a vet?).

Adding a PCV catch can and a valve cover breather will definitely curtail blowby.
