Default Security screws?

Hey all. Just wondering if anyone knows where I can buy security screws to swap out the generic 7mm hex screws that are used for most of the interior (dash, center console, etc).

I want to use them to replace the stereo mount screws, so it'd be more difficult (not impossible) for a thief to get it out.

I agree... I usually leave my car unlocked... why? because, if I have something that someone wants, they will get in, I might as well save myself some money by leaving the car unlocked... that way they don't break the window getting to the stuff... if they want it, they will get it, alarm or not, day/night, whatever... like said above, if you have security screws, they will just hack away at your dash and rip it out.. causing you the loss of the stereo plus the dash... just leave it be...

It's a sad state of affairs in this fine country when we have to think like this, however I have to agree....

McMaster probably has them too.

As for security, I don't think screws would've made a difference to the thieves that pried apart my dash with a crowbar.

yup, rip and tear, Thats why I have the stock radio in my car, that way I can leave my top off without worrying... whos gonna take that thing? If i do have an aftermarket stereo, I leave it loose in the dash, IE, you can just pull it out without a screw driver... and I leave the wires long enough to pull all the way out.... same reason as before... if a thief is gonna get it, they are gonna get it.... let them take it, and I will be out the loss of the stereo and not the damaged dash and whatever else they rip to get to it.

screws of any kind are no match for a prybar. Dumb idea.

Sorry for being blunt, but my Cadillac window didn't stand up to one. I wished that I'd left it unlocked. They didn't even take anything. They just broke the window, and I guess didn't find what they thought was in there.

It gets so hot around here that I just leave the windows down. I put a steering wheel lock on the car as an additional deterrent. Looks dorky and probably won't slow down the pros, but most people just look and move on. I usually just tip the parking lot attendant and part right next to them.

Frankly, I have more problems trying to stay for the guys that are just looking for a nice car to bang up with their Junkers!

Good luck!

I use a club on my Vette. It might only take 10 seconds for a thief to defeat, but some thieves can steal a car in as little as 8 seconds, so that 10 seconds seems pretty significant to me!
