Default RTD No Workie After PCM program "update"

Hi,

A Few months ago I took my 98 to a local shop that "specializes" in Corvettes to have them look into a problem I was having with the car Pinging under very light load. There were no codes and no obvious reason for it to ping. They suggested that the Knock Sensors were going out due to the timing not retarding more than 3 degrees. I had them check the PCM program to see if there were any updates required. They found 7 so I had them upgrade it. That's when the fun started.
They finished the re-program and found that all communications to the BCM were gone. There were codes all over the place (at least that was working) - no ABS, No Traction Control, No RTD, No power windows, seats, etc. They shut her down and tried it again - only to have the same problems. Of course they expressed major astonishment - they had NEVER had this happen before. So they called the company they got the software from.
They put the call on speaker-phone so I was able to hear the tech on the other end say he had never heard of that happening and hinted that maybe they had done something wrong. He walked then through reconfiguring the BCM and "all was well" - no codes, everything worked.. or so I thought.
As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot I noticed that the ride was MUCH stiffer, even with the RTD selector set at "touring". I thought that maybe something had been wrong with the RTD and the reprogram had fixed it. I mentioned this to my dealership at the next oil change and they said they had never heard of either problem. I continued to drive it but noticed that I could no longer distinguish between settings.

Since I'm going to be driving the car to Vegas later this month, I took it in to the dealership this morning to have the PCM program checked. I got a call back saying yes, there were "problems" with the programming. Seems they had configured it for various features I don't have.. like Active Handling and Memory seats. That was fixed but the RTD still wasn't working. They hooked up a Tech2 to it and tried to get the actuators to respond - nothing. It is throwing no codes or anything. The dealership doesn't think there is a connection - coincidence They are looking at it and will call me back as soon as they find something.

I know there is nothing I can do now, too long since I had it "updated" to prove it happened at the same time.. but -
What are the chances that this is a coincidence? Is there anything that could have happened during the botched programming that would have messed up the RTD - without causing codes?

Oh, on the Pinging - turns out that the Knock Sensors are fine - a "calibrated" MAF I purchased from someone on the forum was very bad - A good friend let me try out his Granatelli and she runs like a champ. And, he let me keep it! THANKS DON!!!
