Not to be a jerk, but from the owner's manual:
"CHARGE SYSTEM FAULT Press RESET to
acknowledge that you have read the message and to
remove it from the display. The message will reappear
every 10 minutes until this condition changes. You will
hear two chimes when this message is displayed. If this message comes on while you are driving, you
may have a problem with the electrical charging system.
It could indicate that you have a loose or broken drive
belt or another electrical problem. Have it checked right
away. Driving while this light is on could drain
your battery.
If you must drive a short distance with the message on,
be certain to turn off your accessories, such as the radio
and air conditioner."
And from the Service Manual: Check for any stored PCM, BCM or communication DTCs related to Theft Deterrent, starting or charging system operation.
If you have codes in any of these modules, post them here. I'm sure someone can provide further assistance.
When you go to start up your car, turn the ignition on, let all the guages do their thing, wait for the "Corvette By Chevrolet" to show up then start the car. I have seen this a few times as everyone will sooner or later on start-up. Usually this shows up after the car has not been driven in a wile. As long as it goes away, I would'nt worry about it.
i get this every now and then. it seems to happen when i dont crank the starter long enough and the car barely starts. also i've only seen it when im leaving from work when it is hot outside. don't know if that has anything to do with it but thats what i noticed.
The message does not stay on. It only comes on once in a blue moon. GM can not event tell me why it comes up.
I have the same thing. When the messsage appears, check your voltage, maybe its low <13 and discharging. Had my car at the dealer 3 times, I even left it running with the message and drove in. Then these mo&*^)& stopped the car, restarted and drove it into the shop. Of course the message was gone.
Then I found an article in which someone described this because of ground problems from the engine to the chassis -> loose cable - corroded connection. Next time at the dealer they checked and tightened all connections, its better since. Good luck
