I have a C5 and about 2 weeks ago I changed the Oil. Normaly at Idle it seems to run at about 38psi. Yesterday the Engine light came on at about 70 MPH and the Presure was at 38. When I pulled over and was back to an idle it was down to 21psi. I checked the oil level and it is in the middle between full and low on the dip stick. When I went to work this morning with the car cold idle was back to 38psi at idle. I work 30 min from home and when I got to work at idle it had dropped back to 25psi.
Any Ideas what I should check first. I have a little over 84000 miles on it and I run the Mobiel 1 filter and 5/30 Mobiel synthetic oil.
I buy cars at auction. I had a jeep that acted the way you describe your C5. It would drop oil pressure after running a while. It turned out to be a defective oil filter. The filter would collapse and pressure would decrease. It's worth slapping a new filter on and checking.

We have 72K on our '98. Use Mobile 1. OP is 38 running at speed and about 25-28 at idle, hot. No lights, no problems. I just figgered it was a Chevy and left it at that. I think you DIC is telling you to add some oil. When our Caddy got about 2 Qts low it would tell me to check engine, particularily if I had taken a sharp turn and the sensor thought the level was getting really low.
