Default brake pads, suggest a set

I've about had it with cleaning my wheels. I'm willing to give up a little stopping performance (since I rarely go above 150mph, mostly keep it under 145... in a school zone anyway) just to keep from cleaning my wheels all the time.

Any advise on wich pads most of you are using that keep the brake dust to a minimum. I sort of remember someone saying something about ceramic pads purchased at one of the local franchise shops like advance auto or auto zone???

Now I don't want to put crappie pads on my ride but if the ceramic pads are about 90% of the stock pads as far as stopping power is concerned then I will go for a new set.

Any suggestions??? Please include a price estimate.

Thnaks in advance
Matt

I just replaced my pads for same reason. I put on Delco ceramics. See Fred Beans May specials post. They cut dust down big time. As far as lost performance, I really cant tell since I do not race my car as many members do. I stop just fine thou. I am sure more will chime in. Good luck

Ceramics will dust less if that's the priority but you will surrender some stopping power.

NAPA mid grade ceramics. I'm sure there is dust, but I have not seen it. Even when I wash the car, there is very little if any on the calpiers. Car stops fine for DD but they will fade if you are doing hard, repeated braking.

I personally hated the ceramics. They took a lot more pedal effort to stop. You will notice less dust, but it wasn't worth the tradeoff in my opinion.

Have had Raybestos Q ceramic/metallic on my 00 Coupe for 5 years and never get dust on the rims. They do dust which shows on the fender gill area and rear bumper but better than factory.

Guys thanks alot for all the inputs really great advice.

I think I'll give 'em a try. If I don't like 'em I'll take 'em off and put the old ones back on.

One more question? Is it Ok to just run new ceramic pads on 12,000 mile rotors or should I replace the rotors with new ones also.

If I were going with semi/metalic I would just keep the same rotors.

As you can see, I have no experience with ceramics pads at all.

help and thanks again

Fichtners is having a sell on the Delco ceramics this month. I believe the price was $119 for both front and rear. Check the formum for the latest post from them or call Bob. I have the ceramics on my C5 and the dust is greatly reduced.
