Default cat-back install question

I may be buying and installing a used cat back exhaust. I've noticed when reading the installation instructions for borlas/corsas/etc. they usually provide new exhaust flange gaskets to go between the stock H-pipe and the new exhaust pipes. Can I simply reuse the gaskets that are on my car? If not, does anybody know the part # or where I could buy new gaskets? Is there something else I could use in its place? Thanks for any info.

New ones would be nice but you can use the existing ones if they're in good shape and don't leak. Make sure you torque them to spec. - C.

The GM part number I'm showing for these gaskets is 10276792.
They are used at the rear flanges of the H-pipe center section and your cat-back "over axle" pipes. Any GM dealer will probably have them as well as many auto parts stores as well. HTH

Thanks for all the great info guys. I called a local GM parts department and they want $12 a piece for these things.

I 've been calling around to Napa, Autozone, etc. and all I can find is the exhaust to manifold gasket which isn't what I'm looking for. I'm not sure if they aren't understanding what gasket I want or nobody carries it.

Depending on the brand(s) they carry, some parts stores can cross reference the GM number. Another suggestion: call forum vendor Fichtner Chev tomorrow. Their price is going to be a lot better than what your local dealer gave you; probably 30 to 40% off list. The shipping on something that light won't be much at all and plus you won't pay any sales tax (unless you live in Montana that is ) 1-800-234-5284 Ask for Bob or Tom in parts. HTH

The list price on those gaskets is $7.49 and I got them from my dealer for $5.xx. GM Direct has them for $4.15. I'd go have a chat with that parts department, they're ripping you off.
