For some reason, neither of my keys will go in the ignition. It's like there's something blocking it right inside the opening to the ignition. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? I've never heard of anything like this happening. Could it be a column lock issue or possibly a security system issue? Please help. Thanks.
I take it no one else knows what's wrong either. I've never heard of anything like this before. I guess I'll just have it towed to the dealer in the morning.
I recently discovered that no matter how hard I try, my Ford Ranger key does NOT work in my Corvette! Wish I could help you...
LOL! That's the first thing I thought about. I've got a Tahoe and had to double check to make sure I wasn't trying to crank the Vette with the Tahoe keys. I've tried both sets of keys but neither work. The remotes function properly but the damn keys just won't go in the ignition. There's no message or anything on the DIC. I have no idea.

Interesting point...a couple times recently, I have tried to take the key out of the ignition while it was still in gear after shutting down (A4). I wonder if his condition might happen if I was actually able to get the key out of the ignition. And if so, trying to move the gear shift selector to clear the problem. Hmm. It seems to be a mechanical link.
OK. Here's the deal now: I was able to get the key in and turn it to crank it. But, when I turn the key the car won't turn over. Still no message or anything on the DIC. Now, it just won't crank.
Also, try to move the steering wheel back and forth, you never know while you are trying to insert the key. Also, did the little resistor break off in there?

Im not sure it's a good idea to force feed this ignition. Maybe now, it is damaged and cannot read the pellet on the key. Each key has a specific ohm value to it, and if it isn't right, nothing will happen.

I think I am now, beyond the envelope of my knowledge base. I'm sure that you have tried a second key, now that you can get it in the ignition and that it did not work. But what may have happend now (and I'm am only guessing here) is that the ignition may have internal damage from trying to get the key in, and now, cannot read the ohm's in the pellet on the key. Without actually knowing what you did to eventually get the key in, it is really only guesswork from this point on. I wish I had more smarts about this to help you out. I might be just muddying the waters here. Anybody else chime in?
Yup. Happened 2x in my 2003 Z06 and left me stranded both times. A resistor is in fact bent and blocking the key from entering properly. When you did get the key in, you did damage to it. Call the 1-800 number and get a tow to a dealer.
I have been much more carefull about the force I use when putting my key in and the angle of entry. Don't know if that was the problem, but,....

Good Luck!
What's the 800 number? I'm going to need it. Thanks.

I agree... I can see nothing but trouble in there unless you treat that thing with kidd golves. I never had worries like this with my Caddy, and it had a resistor key too.
Thanks for all the input. This forum is the best because of people like you all. I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow morning. I'll post the results. Thanks again!
