Default Thoughts on Sway bars

Hello All,
I've got a 1999 Auto coupe with the selectable ride control that I autocross. It's also my daily driver. I'm thinking of upgrading the sway bars. I'd like to hear your thoughts!

Thanks

I upgraded my '03 Vert to Z06 Sway Bars and it makes a noticeable difference on the track. I have not Aotocrossed yet but I would imagine the bigger bars would help.

The Hotchkiss kit I bought for my 2000 with the F45 adjustable suspension just might be the best $500 I ever spent on the car. If you think the car handles well now your in for a huge surprise on the upside.
The Z06 set-up is good value and provides similar results....

Just do it...you wont be disappointed.

What they said...

What tires you use for autox? You might, and I mean MIGHT push a little with the thicker bars at those speeds with the EMTs. I noticed this just a bit. Don't want to concern you though, it was still better than the base FE1 stuff I had.

With non-EMTs it is quite nice.

I've got a 99 vert and the Z06 bars made a considerable difference. The Hotchkiss are even stiffer but I wouldn't use them for auto-x but that's just my opinion. Either way you'll be very happy with the addition of new bars.

Mine's a daily driver only and it was still well worth the price.

Swaybars are a big part of tuning the suspension for some really rockin AutoXin. I went with a spring/bar upgrade since I was in there anyway and I would recommend it to you also. Z06 spring and Z06 or Hotchkis bars will bring your fun to a new level.

Also, get some wagon wheels on here and get some tires. EMTs are junk for AutoX, but I keep mine for DD. Kuhmo MX are best bang/ buck and you will really feel a difference. Also, while doing bars, lower the car on stock bolts, takes about 15 minutes and completly reversible, helps the body roll in those tight slaloms

F55 is a pretty good shock setup, 04 Z06 shocks are great, as are Koni adjustables.

Also, Hotchkis bars will put you in ASP vice SSX for AutoX class

Hope this helps

I agree the sway bars are one of the best upgrades.
I like going through turns fast more than just going straight fast

Upgrading to Z06 bars on my F45 was a noticiable improvement, in daily driving and at the roadcoarse. When I still had the runflats, it minimized the scarry bump-steer in corners.

Ditching the runflats eliminated it completely!

Z06 bars here and love them. Tighter in the turns but you do have to adjust for a little understeer!

As a Newbee, you may not be aware, but several forum Vendors sell a "Z06 bar upgrade kit" for around $240 (last I checked). This includes the bars and endlinks. The endlinks on the base and F45 suspension are actually PLASTIC! The kit somes with metal endlinks. It's a pretty easy self-install - you don't need any special tools or a lift.

Good luck,

I guess I will be the odd ball here but I purchased the T1 bars and they are awesome. There are two drawbacks thought. Price and the metal end links suck. They make all kinds of noise. I am going to try to use lock tight to fix that if I could get of my lazy @$$. But any thing above stock is a improvement.

I'm looking to do the same thing and I can't wait.
I think GM part direct has the best price for this mod unless someone knows of a better deal elsewhere.
