Default Service engine light comes on and....

We were looking for a new home in a plan that had a very steep grade, we would slow down to maybe 2-3 mph for a few min. then continue driving at a max. 10 mph. After about 10 minutes, I noticed smelling fumes and her check engine light came on. It stays on, then blinks for a while, then stays on. The engine runs rough and seems like its holding back. The catalitic converter smell is still there, but not as strong. The owners manual said either bad gas or take it to the dealer. Its a 97 with about 57,000 miles with an automatic. Can anyone give some help????
Here are the codes you asked for that I could pull up-- they seem to be all history codes.
P0300H
P1571H
U1040H
U1060H

Provide us a list of codes from the DIC to determine exactly what's causing the problem and whether their is a C or H next to the code.

I just had the P0300 come on my Z on Sunday. I replaced the wires and plugs on mine. Solved my problem, but then again, that was my only code.
As for your codes: (H = History)
P0300 Engine Misfire Detected
P1571 ASR Desired Torque
U1040 Loss of Communications with TCS
U1160 Loss of Communications with LDCM (Couldn't find U1060)
Here is the site that I found the info on for the codes:
http://www.corvettedoctor.com/Codes_Page.htm
Hopefully, someone here can give you an insight to what you need to replace.

Have you had any receive services performed or modifications made to your vette that may have caused these codes and problems, or did they just appear while driving recently? Now that you know what codes you have - you might want to check for forum for those codes and see what others had to say regarding why they showed up and how they resolved them. Good luck.
