Converter Recommendations
I have a 2000 a4 with a 224x224+4 cam long tubes headers high flow cats, 3:15 gears. my tuner recommended a 2400 stall converter . the car is driven on the street 99 % of the time I go to the strip once or twice a year and a couple of times on a road course . the car is idling at 900 rpm so it's loading the converter up what do you think and should i go with 3;42 gears I do not want to loose my great gas mileage

I'm running a 2800 vigilante, LGMs, and 3.42s without any issues. The converter is looser than stock, but I'm use to it now. My gas milage is very close to stock. Having the car dyno tuned and line pressure and shift speeds adjusted helped with the loosness.

Anything less than a 3000 stall converter is honestly a waste of money. A 3000 with your 3.15 gears will feel nearly stock and give you a real boost in performance.
P.S.- The previous mentioned Vig 2800 stalls at ~3200 rpm.
If you want to stick with your 3.15 gears go with the Yank SS3200.
This converter was made with 3.15 gears in mind. You will get a big boost in performane and you will maintain your current fuel economy on the highway. Your driveability will also be very good.
