I think I remember seeing something about this at one time, but can't recall the specifics.
My corvette's air conditioning is stinky when you first start it up, I think it may just be stinky when the AC compressor is off, although I can't really think why that would be.
I thought maybe it was just from the cold air leaving some moisture and it turning bad after abit, so I decided to run it without the ac on to dry it out (after It had stopped being stinky) and it went back to being stinky, which I thought was kinda odd, maybe it switches air paths when you turn the ac off?
Anyhow it seems like I remember you can pour some soapy water somewhere and it'll help, dunno if it'll help this specific problem but I thought I remembered that, anyone have any ideas?
You might have mold/mildew in the ducts. Try spraying some Lysol into the outside air intake (the black mesh just below the drivers side wiper)
while runnig the blower motor on medium.
That usaully does the trick

There are several products on the market made just for this. One is made by Inter-Dynamics co, (who also sell other HVAC related products). Check with you local Auto Zone, Pep Boys, etc. I have used it and it really leaves a clean scent; not perfumy in the least. HTH
