I have a 2000 C5 Coupe. I hve been having an ongoing problem with the liftgate intermittently popping open when the car is parked and the ignition is off. I will park the car and come back out to my garage 20 minutes later and the liftback has released? I have had it back to the dealer on several occasions. The have adjusted the rear latch, replaced the release switch on the dashboard and even replaced the ondeck computer for which none of these things fixed it. The liftback will still intermittently release itself when the car is parked and the ignition is off? Has anyone seen this problem? Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the liftback release mechanism that I can use to trace this problem?
Yeah I orginally thought it may have something to do with the key FOB but as I stated I do not leave the keys in the car so I ruled that out. One thing I did detemine was if I unplug the liftback release switch on the dashboard the liftback does not release unexpectantly. So, it must have someething to do with the 12volt ciruit feeding the latch. (I already replaced the switch with a new one). That was why I was hoping to get access to a wiring diagram for the back latch so I can trace all of the sources of the 12 volts to the latch along with the ground circuits.
This was happening with my Buick all the time. Turns out it was from me walking around with the FOB in my pocket, and other keys pressing agaist the buttons.
