I've got a 99 that I am having problems with the driver's seat. The forward/reverse/up/down switch works fine. But, none of the others work, including lumbar support. If I press any of those buttons, you can hear a noise, but nothing happens. Also, if I don't unplug the main wiring connector, there sometimes is a constant noise, as if you are pushing a switch, even though I'm not. This only occurrs every now and then. The first time it ran my battery down, I just started keeping it unplugged, which also disables the telescoping steering column.
Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips, to locate the problem, whether in the switches, motors, etc? I would hate to replace something, if it is not the problem.
Also, does anyone know of a source where you can buy parts for the power seats, other than going to the dealership (aka : money pit)?
I had the noises from the lumbar supports and bolsters without inflation. Turns out that the bladder supporting those three was shot and had to be replaced. Not cheap. Unfamiliar with the rest of your probs.
It sounds like a bad switch and if the harness including the connectors are in good condition then it probably is. The seat switches come as an assembly and is available from gmpartsdirect for $62 shipped.
You could check with Gene at Karshop and see if he could help you out.
are you still under warrenty??? sounds exactly what happened to mine.. glad mine was.. had to have a rep from gm ok the repair. turns out it was $3200 for both seats.
I checked gmpartsdirect.com, and the closest item I found was "POWER ADJUSTER (w/Memory Driver Side Power Adjuster, Seat)". Is this the wrong item, because it is $521 with shipping. Can you tell me where I can find the correct part, if this is not?
