Given that you say the ride has deteriorated, I would recommed closely examining all of the shocks, to include a peek under all the boots if present.

Is this a kit?
I have the same kit and need to do the same sort of test. My ride height is quite a bit higher but there are points where the back of my car hops when I hit a bump. I had the compression softened but I still get that effect.

It would really be a huge help to me and vettethret if someone could show a diagram or picture on how to do this test (where to place the zip tie).

Look at the spring. Inside the spring is where the shock rod will be. It is shiny Attach ziptie snug to shock rod close to the shock body. Drive car such that bad behavior is exhibited. Look and see where the tie is now...

Keep in mind that if your spring rate is too high for the weight of the car, it WILL bounce. This is not to be confused with bottoming out.
