After header and vararam install, my car's temp on the highway is 232-239 and then the fan will kick on and lower the temp back to 230. Car's temp used to be around 219-228 on the highway or traffic, no higher than 228 before install. Is this normal temps with headers and vararam. JOHN
I noticed no real change in temps. If you are running that high on the open raod you have a problem, check under the shroud and see if you didn't pick up a bag or something.
I know it involves a bit more work but bugs and other stuff tend to accumulate between the condensor and the radiator, so you need to check that out as well
Wow, that seems high. I have longtubes and a halltech intake not much different from your set-up and on the highway i consistantly run around 195 +/_ 5
TKS Guy's for tha info, i'll look into it 2morrow. It's about 70 here 2nite coming from the ATL, car should have been running cool on the highway. Got home open the hood, both fans were running and car's full of anti-freeze.Just wondering if the thermostats going bad or hanging up. Look more into in the morning. TKS
Got up this morning and checked everything out. Could'nt find anything wrong or blocking rad. Cut the car on and let it run for a few minutes with the hood up. Temp went up to 242 with the fans running and the hood up. Lost at this point. JOHN

I know this sounds simple but you might want to check the overflow tank cap to make sure it is good and allowing the system to build pressure. If the cap is bad, you could be drawing air into the system which may be the cause of your problem. Try jacking the front of the car up and running it with the cap off to see if you can bleed any air in the system out if there is any. Just a suggestion, Hope it helps.
As for Thermostats, most are designed to fail in the open position which would give you just the opposite where the car runs cold and does not seem to warm up. Can't say for certain on the Vette but I am sure some others will chime in.

I've run my c5's with no rad. cap at idle for over 20 mins. after numerous work (mod installs), and they never run have run hot. Sounds like a stuck t-stat to me.

Can I buy a 178 t-stat from dealer or is this a aftermarket part.
