LT headers worth it on 2001+ C5's
Also, what's all this I've been reading about LT headers sounding raspy/tinny? Sound-wise, I much prefer that mellow woofly-warble idle and over-run sound, with a nice deep growl at WOT. Personally, I really don't care for the harsh metallic-sounding over-run sound I've heard on a lot of video clips of modded C5's when the driver lifts-off. What causes this? Stainless steel headers/cat-backs? I wouldn't want my car to sound like a NASCAR oval racer... I don't think it suits the C5's image. I prefer a more exotic, subdued engine/exhaust note... ever hear an Aston Martin V8 from a Vanquish, for example? TVR V8's sound great, too... that's the type of sound I'm looking for.
Cheers,
Ian.

For the rest :
1> All long tube headers will be SIGNIFICANTLY louder than stock. The tube walls are thinner and you will hear the engine more.
2> Choice of cat-back is what determines the "tinny" sound. I have Borla Stingers 2 tip and they are both VERY deep and VERY loud. I love it

3>Head/cam needs real long tubes. Installing anything else is a waste of time and money. Engine has to breathe. End of story.
4> Hear headers & cat backs in person before making a judgement. All videos do NOT produce significant bass - you are missing 90% of the wonders of longtubes by listening to videos, trust me.
5> I have Dynatech Supermaxx headers, high flow cats, x-pipe and Borla Stingers 2 tip cats. If you hang out in the Northeast section, you can probably hear my car in person - I've started hanging out with the NY/NJ gang.
EG

Headers Flyby - very loud
