I have heard of the increase in power that a new box and bridge will bring...
Question is... what does the inside of the box and bridge look like that makes it so restrictive, and to go along with that, what do these after market bridges look like on the inside, that give the extra boost? Does anyone have any comparisons of the "guts" of these parts?
I agree that the intake needs work, but only the airbox portion. The cover of the box has one very small opening to take in air. A less restrictive intake or just a good standalone filter (such as the Donaldson Blackwing, which I have) will give you some power. Many people have just removed the cover of the airbox and zip-tied the filter in place, and gotten good results (zip-tie mod). The Z06 airbox (bigger openings) is also popular. However, unless you need airflow for well over 400HP, the stock airbridge and coupler work fine. Some people cringe at the sight of that corrugated coupler, but it has been posted that the smooth coupler gains zero to a slight loss in HP. IMHO - the only reason for a new airbridge on a near stock engine is cosmetic (Carbon Fiber, etc.) or if it comes with the intake system you choose.
