Man, in my opinion you should be shot. Are you serious, putting air horns in a Vette.

If you are serious I hope you have a Hadley setup. That's what I have on the motor home. Mount the horns on the roof and the compressor in the engine compartment.

Oh, good. I never did like the looks of a Vette with horns on the roof.

I installed my tri-horns (from Summit) inside the air inlet to the radiator. I bolted the horns and the compressor to an aluminum plate and pop riveted the plate to the plastic duct. I ran the wire from the relay, mounted on the fender panel next to the alternator, up the Hurst shifter lever, through a drilled hole into the shift ****. I made a pressure switch under the shift diagram which is now the air horn button.
I have pictures if you PM me your email. I don't have the status to post photos on the forum.

No pics now as I'm at work but I have a true air horn setup. The OEM horn freakin sux, and they are the EXACT same horns you can find at Pep Boys. One high one low.

Anyway, here is my setup, I have my airhorns mounted infront of the radiator. They are wired into the steering wheel pad. Fortunately the OEM circuit is strong (has a 20 amp fuse), so it is able to actuate the solenoid of the airhorns. I put a 1/2 gallon compressor tank and the compressor in my right stowage compartment. I didn't have to drill holes anywhere except the radiator shroud and my setup is completely reversible. I'm using polyethelene ice maker line for the airhose. It works great!

Pics later tonite!

The steering wheel pad SUCKS, unless you drive an A4, try shifting through the gears while passing a slow line of traffic and blow the horn when the typical "Dumb ****" pulls out of the line in front of you. I've got big hands and can't reach the horn section of the pad with my thumb without taking my hand off the wheel.

I would love to mount a locomotive horn on my car for the Houston idiots. Do you think it would fit under the hood?

haha, you must be too lazy to move your hand to hit the horn. I have NO problem at all with engaging my horn. If I'm a passenger and my driver doesnt blow the horn when they need to, I'll reach over and do it for them haha! How about those cars from the mid to early 90's when airbags first started coming out, those damn little horn buttons!

I had a "DS" pull out in front of me just when I was going for third at around 6 large. Here in TN they're like a line of circus elephants, they just follow the leader, who is usually a Que Tip (gray hair) in a old pick up, going all of 35 in a 55 zone.

That's why I put the air horns switch under the shift diagram. You can't believe how neat it is.
BTW I'm a 1938 model so no malice towards the old. Old is all in your head anyways. Time to go out to the shop and start installing my new AFR 205s.

Cheers, Curt

An airhorn would for sure get someone's attention next to you. With the low profile of the vette I always try to get by the person I'm passing quickly.

On one occasion, I had to pass a whole line of "Elephants" led by a "Que Tip", this was a deserted road scenario, started the pass in 2nd gear and I checked the speedo as I eased back into the right lane at around 125. I believe in minimum exposure in the on coming lane. Hope I never have to explain that to the "Judge", don't think he's appreciate this like we do.

get a dixie horn, put 01 on the side, and claim you have a "Dukes of Hazard" car for the new movie.
